Oil/water coolers
The most effective coolant to stabilise the operating temperature in oil operated systems is water. Internal cooling cicuits as typically found in large production facilities and other cooling water sources supply water at temperatures that provide sufficiant delta T compared to the oil input temperature. The BWT plate heat exchangers provide a very effective heat transfer. Thanks to the compact plate assembly and the sophisticated profiled plates, we achieve specific outputs which lead to significantly smaller dimensions compared to traditional shell and tube heat exchangers.

FAQ: Oil/water coolers
- Why should oil be cooled?
In many hydraulic and lubrication applications, it is necessary to maintain the oil viscosity within a defined temperature-dependent range. Since this cannot be reliably achieved through natural convection alone, the temperature must be stabilized by active cooling. If available either as part of the system or from an economical source, water is an excellent cooling medium for this purpose.
- Which oil/water coolers does Bühler Technologies offer in its Fluidcontrol product range?
The standard product range is based on highly efficient plate heat exchangers. These consist of embossed and permanently brazed plates through which both oil and water flow turbulently. This ensures excellent heat transfer performance. The units are compact in design and feature application-oriented connections.
- Are the plate heat exchangers available in other versions?
- How does water consumption compare with traditional tube heat exchangers?
- How are the products selected?
The optimal cooler size for your application is calculated based on your operating parameters. Please send your application data to fluidcontrol@buehler-technologies(dot)com.
